When we visited Burnt Cape Ecological Reserve on June 24, 2022, I thought it looked barren, dead, with no survivors.
I was wrong.
More than 300 plant species live here, about 30 of which are considered rare. In fact, it is one of the only known locations for the Burnt Cape Cinquefoil. This plant requires the climate of Burnt Cape to live.
As we travelled Newfoundland & Labrador, I was repeatedly reminded of the resilience we see in plant species and in our human lives. Surviving, even flourishing, in harsh conditions.
“I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10)
